Brandon Bond returns to All or Nothing Tattoo, Atlanta GA Part 3

Brandon Bond[ http://www.brandonbond] has recently returned to All or Nothing Tattoo [ http://www.allornothingtattoo.com]. The newly renovated All or Nothing Tattoo now includes Brandon’s Private studio Anti Art Elite [http://www.antiartelite.com].

Appointments are extremely limited and will fill up fast. The space has been created with artistic collaboration (more than one artist at a time working on the same client) in mind. Multiple movie screens, and an insane surround sound system have been implemented to facilitate the excessively long sessions Brandon is famous for providing.

This is one of Dave and Brandon’s favorite clients of all time. He gave them total artistic freedom other than stating “I want some Mayan, Incan, Peruvian, Aztec type stuff in black and grey, but the imagery is entirely up to those guys”. This allowed Brandon and Dave to create a piece with flow, movement, and depth.

Understanding The Book Of Life (1/3) - Cracking The Code episode 7

http://www.medicinema.com/genetics.html
Medicinema Ltd.
From the award winning science teaching series CRACKING THE CODE: The Continuing Saga of Genetics - 9 half hour films that cover the history and basic concepts of genetics - from Aristotle and Mendel through to the new DNA-based world of genomics and GM crops - in a fresh and entertaining style.
Featuring original songs by Moxy Früvous
Produced, written and directed by Jack Micay
Major sponsor - The National Science Foundation

Episode 7 - Understanding The Book Of Life

Reading the Book of Life was just the first step. The ultimate goal is to understand how it works. We are guided towards this new genetic horizon by Francis Collins and Craig Venter, the leaders of the two competing teams that first sequenced the human genome. The initial task is to separate out the genes from the other 98% or so of the genome that doesnt code for proteins, no easy feat since the genes themselves are split into even smaller bits (exons), which are also surrounded by DNA noise. Three different gene finding techniques are explained. One method uses an RNA message to tag the gene that produced it. Another makes use of the codons that act as start and stop signals for the machinery of transcription. Still another method exploits the striking similarity between many of our genes and those of other creatures.

The next task is to work out the function of the proteins produced by these genes. Since many different proteins can be derived from the same gene, this a daunting long term project. Protein function is studied using experimental techniques such as site-directed mutagenesis, which is explained by its inventor, Canadian Nobel laureate Michael Smith. The holy grail of genomics is to program computers to predict the function of a protein from the sequence of its gene - still a distant goal. Another challenge will be to work out which genes act together in networks to produce a complex trait. A key tool in uncovering these networks is the gene chip, which is explained in a visual, easy to understand way.

Small variations in our DNA play a crucial role in disease. The most important human diseases are caused by combinations of variant genes, interacting with environmental and lifestyle factors. These variant networks are far more difficult to track down than the single mutations that cause classic genetic diseases like cystic fibrosis. One way around this problem is to study isolated populations with a high incidence of a particular disease. One such group is the Cochin Jews of Israel, who suffer from a very high rate of asthma. The end result will be a new kind of medicine, based on genetic testing and prevention rather than after- the-fact diagnosis and treatment. This episode also features John Sulston, Eric Lander, Sydney Brenner and Joshua Lederberg. 30 minutes.

THIS VIDEO WAS AN ADVERT FOR OUR SHOW AT THE ROYAL ALBERT HALL IN SEPTEMBER 2008. I HAVE LEFT THE ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION HERE FOR POSTERITY…

Great news for all Mario Frangoulis fans in the UK!.

On September 19th Mario will be performing work from his own internationally acclaimed albums alongside some old favourites. Accompanied by the National Symphony Orchestra, this one-off performance will take the audience on a journey across the globe with a truly international repertoire of music.

In an evening full of surprises, Mario will be joined onstage by an eclectic mix of exceptional musicians and singers including international superstar (and Mario’s co-star in the film De Lovely) LARA FABIAN, and the sensational soprano, NATASHA MARSH. A highly regarded performer in both opera and oratorio, Natasha’s debut album, Amour, went to No 1 in the classical chart, and her stunning recording of Mozart’s Queen of the Night aria from The Magic Flute brought her a wider audience this Summer, when ITV chose it as their theme music for football’s Euro 2008. Mario will also be joined by JUSTIN HAYWARD of the Moody Blues as he re-creates their unique orchestral version of Nights In White Satin (Notte de Luce), and another old friend and collaborator, musical sensation STEVE BALSAMO, who shot to fame for his title role in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Mario Frangoulis is a tenor of the 21st century, with the ability to sing everything from a West End show-stopper to an operatic aria. His live performances are electric, and through his charisma, unparalleled vocal talent and immaculate interpretation, he reaches across boundaries of language and musical style (opera, pop, folk, world) and touches his audiences. As a result he has successfully collaborated with artists such as Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras, Justin Hayward and Alejandro Fernandez and many more.

At 17 Mario moved from his native Greece to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where, having won the coveted Maria Callas Prize, he was spotted by Cameron Mackintosh who cast him as Marius in Les Misérables. Soon after, Andrew Lloyd Webber invited Mario to play Raoul in The Phantom of the Opera, which he did to much acclaim, going on to one of the great homes of opera, making his debut at La Scala, Milan as Tony in West Side Story. He has since established himself as one of the world’s best loved and most versatile tenors.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of music. To book, call the Box Office on 020 7589 8212 or book online at www.royalalberthall.com.

See you there,

Liam
